Send a Message to a Senior

Send a message to an isolated senior in your community:


Help with Emergency Food Distribution, any Tuesday at 10am or 3:30pm at Bethania Lutheran Church. Contact Chris Brown to volunteer: [email protected] or 805-688-4637.

Help prepare hot meals for families in need, cooking-related tasks like prepping and portioning food. Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings, two-hour shifts at St Marks In-The-Valley. To volunteer, contact Chef Bethany Markee, [email protected]

Deliver meals for Buellton Senior Center or help with the Soup and Bread Program on Saturdays. To volunteer, contact Linda Linton, [email protected]

Donate: Blessing Boxes/Community Pantries, Community Food Programs

Help fund Emergency Food Distribution at Bethania Church (select food distribution when choosing the fund you want to give to). 
Donate home-baked desserts and pastries or fresh fruit and vegetables to compliment hot meals for families in need served at St Marks In-The-Valley. Contact Chef Bethany Markee, [email protected] for details.

Fund food for Seniors. Help fund the Buelllton Senior Center Soup and Bread and meal delivery programs at Monetary donations will help them pay for: 

  • Gas expenses for food delivery Monday-Friday.
  • Purchasing supplies (mostly to-go containers) 
  • The rent of their large refrigeration unit that costs thousands of dollars each month, but it vital to their program’s operation.
  • The cost of meals. Donating just $5 covers the cost of one meal
Local Blessing Boxes/Community Pantries. Donate food and supplies for folks who are in need. You can drop off dried goods, canned food, baby food, diapers, wipes, tampons, pads, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc.

Help Feed Pets. Hazel Mortensen of Solvang has started a program to purchase dog food for those who can't afford to feed their pets during this time. Santa Ynez Feed & Milling Co. (805 688 6404) are taking donations from people and using the money to purchase dog food, which Hazel then hands out at the Visitors' Center in Solvang. READ about the program here.

Many businesses are struggling right now. Below are a few local businesses that you can support. We encourage you to support other local businesses you love, and to write to us if you would like us to feature them on our web page. 

Adopt A Shop is an initiative designed to promote locally-owned businesses and at the same time support local journalism through The Independent 

Industrial Eats is open from 12PM-8PM Mon-Fri. You can order online on their website at:

Figueroa Mountain Brewery Co. in Buellton is doing take-out, food delivery, and offering special family meal options. They are also delivering and mailing beer. You can place an order on their website at:

Standing Sun Winery is taking online orders. Visit their website at:

Los Olivos Wine Merchant & Cafe is open 11:00-7:00 daily for Take-Out orders only. They have discounted the menu items 30%. Their Wine Merchant is available online 24/7 and will ship. You can order ahead ONLINE or call them at 805-688-7265 ext. 0. 

Solvang Book Loft is doing Curbside Pick up Mon-Fri 1-3 PM, Wed 4-6 PM, and Saturdays 10 AM- 12 PM. They are also doing mail order and Local Delivery. All of these services have to be prearranged by ordering over Phone at, 805-688-6010 or email at, [email protected].

Food Banks of Santa Barbara County

Bethania Lutheran Church is accepting donations for their food distribution program on their website. (click here) extended its Meals on Wheels program to include serving folks in Buellton, Solvang, Santa Ynez, and Los Alamos. They make every meal from scratch, using organic fruits and veggies. They are dedicated to providing nutrition, and helping eliminate isolation, to the SYV elderly.

Free Resources for Kids

Goleta Valley Library is now Offering Children’s Craft Kits

Patrons of the Goleta, Buellton, and Solvang libraries can sign up to receive craft kits for kids! All you need to do is fill out a brief form on the Goleta Valley Library's website and the library will send craft kits to your home!  Each month you may request up to two craft kits for each of your children, sign up here!

For more activities for your children, stay in touch with the Goleta Valley Library on its Facebook page (@GoletaValleyLibrary). You will find recorded and live programs such as Wriggly Storytime, Family Storytime, craft programs and more. The Buellton and Solvang Libraries also have programming on its Facebook pages as well: Buellton and Solvang.
